I’ve been using the Audeara A-02 headphones for a while now, and overall, I’m impressed. The sound quality is fantastic, and the personalisation feature through the app has genuinely enhanced my listening experience. As someone with unilateral hearing loss, being able to map a custom audio profile tailored to my needs is a game-changer.
The headphones are comfortable and well-built, and excellent for calls (phone and Teams). The active noise cancellation is an added bonus, minimising background noise.
When it comes to listening to music, this has also been incredible. The sound quality is great with good bass response.
However, there’s one unnecessary limitation: the app only allows adjustments up to 60dB for hearing thresholds. This cap means that users with more significant hearing loss (60-90dB range) either have to send the headphones back for programming or visit an audiologist to use Audeara's desktop software (which also has an upper threshold limit of 80dB). While this might not be an issue for everyone, it creates unnecessary hurdles for those with more pronounced hearing losses.
If the app allowed for higher thresholds, it would save users like me from needing additional steps and improve the accessibility of the product. I’d also recommend that this limitation be communicated more clearly during the purchasing process, with an option to pre-program the headphones if necessary.
That said, I still think the Audeara A-02 headphones are a fantastic product with a lot to offer. If Audeara can address the app’s limitations, I'll be giving 5 stars.
Thank you for such a great product Audeara team.
